You heard it here first! Snag your tickets to We Are Here: an evening celebrating South London’s female and non-binary filmmakers. We’ll be screening a thoughtfully curated programme of short films submitted by our filmmakers that speak to our demands as disadvantaged people to be seen, heard, and listened to. The screening will be followed by a filmmaker Q&A discussion and some mingling.
In collaboration with Make It Brixton we explore what it means to belong in a place; to lay claim to a road, or a country. By exploring both the work happening to decolonise British institutions, education systems and public spaces, we come together to celebrate the diaspora, the interwoven cultural communities we live in. In Lambeth over 140 different languages are spoken, and yet habitual flaws in our language ask questions of belonging and ownership. Here, we amplify the stories of many mother tongues, and the new dialects they are yet to create.
