Reframing Film Sessions

  • Watershed 1 Canon's Road Bristol, England, BS1 5TX United Kingdom (map)

Some of the most distinctive voices in film curation and archiving come together to explore the potential of reframing film heritage.

The day kicks off with a session exploring the role of festivals in raising the profile of lesser-known films of the past and the ripple effect that can follow with guests from Il Cinema Ritrovato, Essay Film Festival , Widescreen and Cinema Rediscovered. There’s also a session on Repertory Programming - all year round including guests from Glasgow Film Theatre and Hyde Park Picture House, Leeds followed by a Networking lunch.

You can then join in our Restored & Rediscovered Slate Presentation hosted by Film Critic Neil Ramjee to get a better sense of what is coming up and hear about release plans from UK distributors such as Park Circus, BFI and MUBI. Attendees then have the option to catch a special preview of Kinuyo Tanaka's Forever a Woman c/o Janus Films or join in a session on Regional Film Archives. For those of you that would just like some time to reconnect with other practitioners, you are welcome to use Waterside 1 for meetings.
