The greatest compliment may be that the city has been presented as a character of its own in a film, whether subtly or explicitly. In non-fiction filmmaking and curation, which language do we use when a city takes centre stage?
In this session, we will examine the visibility of a city, and on a global level, ponder who we can trust when it comes to depictions of territories other than ours. They will speak to filmmakers, curators and location scouts on how to capture the essence of a city when you’re not making it up, and the power of world-making when you have to.
