Experimental cinema is an art form, and selling it to a mainstream film audience can be a challenge. In this session we explore the dreamlike and elusive genre of experimental filmmaking, taking it out of the pigeonhole and expanding the possibility of the form. How do we define ‘experimental’ and what’s possible in the realm of making and exhibiting the work of experimental filmmakers and moving image artists?
Speaking to those who challenge cinematic conventions and explore non-narrative forms, we present a conversation around making, framing and experiencing the impossible. Panelists include Hyun Jin Cho (Programmer), Miryam Charles (Filmmaker) and María Palacios Cruz (Festival Director, Open City Docs).
