Popular with prequels and spin-offs in big franchises, the redemption arc has us wondering if every person portrayed as a villain is really just misunderstood. Whose side are we really on anyway? Through a dive into archives and biblical stories we are reminded of the work of those who came before us, those who fight to destigmatise persecution and those who fight for feminist, queer, environmental and racial justice.
In a world where standing up for our beliefs or for the oppressed can see us labeled and vilified, these films show just how powerful myth, media and memory can be. From anger to conflict to resolution, in these short films there is a call to action, but also an inspiring refusal of the gaze that follows and surveils us all.
